SATRA SAFT course held in the US
SATRA’s Darren Roberts, Mark Southam and Mike Wilson recently presented the SATRA Accredited Footwear Technologist (SAFT) course in the United States. The sessions were held at the Beckman Center in Irvine, California over a two and a half week period, with 20 students attending.
The SAFT course is the most comprehensive and up-to-date of its kind. The information it contains is divided into six key areas of footwear manufacture: lasts and fitting, materials/constructions, laboratory testing procedures, product design/performance/risk assessment, quality assurance/supplier auditing and industrial footwear.
Each module is led by a SATRA specialist and covered in detail over a two-day intensive training period. Comprehensive documentation to support the lecture and practical sessions is also provided.
Successful modern manufacturing processes rely on accurate practical information and the ability of staff members to understand and apply such information. In a global and competitive marketplace, knowledge and skills are increasingly important, and SATRA has designed this training course for technologists involved in any aspect of footwear production. Once the course is complete, attendees have the opportunity to take optional written examinations to receive SATRA SAFT accreditation.
The SAFT course in the US was extremely well received. Due to its success, it will now be repeated again in 2013 at The Beckman Center. The sessions are scheduled to be held on 14th-25th October, running on Monday to Friday of each week. Places are limited to keep groups at an interactive size, so please register your interest as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
