Examining cemented sole bond failures
Reviewing footwear wear returns caused by sole bond failures and considering how the failure can be analysed to identify the cause.
Bond failure might appear to be a simple quality issue. It may give the footwear a poor appearance which, in itself could be a justified reason for the wearer to complain, or affect the function of the shoe – such as by increasing the risk of the shoe letting in water. However, sole bond failures, no matter how minor they might seem, are also a potential safety hazard.
