How to select soling materials

How the footwear producer can choose between established soling types and novel materials.

At the shoe design stage, a decision must be taken about which sole material(s) will be employed. Alternatively, a material developer – perhaps looking for a market – will wish to evaluate a new product to see how it matches up to footwear requirements and so be able to identify the footwear sectors to which it might best be suited.
