In the UK 70 years ago, Queen Elizabeth II was starting her reign and preparing for her Coronation to be held in 1953. Simultaneously, Sir Edmund Hillary's team of explorers were preparing for their attempt to reach the summit of Mount Everest. To do this they needed suitable, technically advanced footwear.

The footwear used was developed at SATRA and was highly successful. In this webinar we will tell the story of the expedition and the footwear: their construction, materials used and performance. We will also be delving into our extensive archive to reveal some of the lesser-known facts surrounding this achievement.
