Online training - SATRA Footwear Foundations

SATRA is pleased to offer the ‘Footwear Foundations’ interactive online course, designed to benefit existing staff looking to expand their basic technical knowledge and new starters in the industry. The course is always open for enrolment and provides a broad technical appreciation of footwear development, production and quality assurance from concept through to consumer. It is aimed at designers, product developers, material suppliers, buyers, sales and marketing staff. Footwear Foundations can be accessed 24/7 and consists of an introductory module followed by 11 study modules covering:

Design • Upper materials • Soles • Structural components • Closing • Lasting and making • Sole attachment • Finishing • Fitting and comfort • Testing • Customer issues

There is also a final module that allows the learner to assess their learning and achieve the SATRA Footwear Foundations Certificate. Students can move through the modules at their own pace, and complete interactive quizzes to check progress and reinforce learning. Successful completion of the full course leads to the award of the SATRA Footwear Foundations Certificate.
