Webinar - Assessing seams and seam holding
Thursday 22nd June 2023
This event is available to SATRA members only
10.00 and 16.00 BST
The majority of footwear designs use sewn seams to form the 3-dimensional shape of the upper around the foot from 2-dimensional patterns. The seam is formed from one or more upper materials such as leather and textile attached using one or more lines of stitching. The seam must be strong enough to withstand the forces associated with footwear manufacture and in wear but may also need to withstand frequent flexing as the foot flexes during walking
SATRA footwear technologist, Scott Jarvis, looks at the how seam constructions may be assessed within the laboratory.
