Slipping of the heel part of the sole is arguably the most dangerous type of slip because of the subject’s weight being transferred to the slipping foot. This makes the slip less recoverable, and increases the likelihood of the wearer landing on their back and risking more severe trauma.
SATRA TM144 (and similar slip test methods) is mainly a whole shoe test, but in this webinar we will review how it is adapted to test heel top-pieces as components or, in some cases, as removed from whole shoes. Such top-pieces (usually rubber or TPU) must balance grip with durability and attachment security so we also review how these interplay.
