In sole bonding, polyurethane based adhesives are extremely popular but they don’t work with the rubber family of sole materials, as the adhesive will not adequately adhere to the original surface of the rubber.
This problem is overcome by the use of halogenation primer on the rubber, allowing the PU adhesive to bond strongly to it. In this webinar Mike George reviews and explains this now industry-wide standard process and how to do it correctly, paying heed to health and safety precautions and other practical measures.
Did you know that halogenation is never compatible with polychloroprene (neoprene) adhesive except in one special case…..?
