Skateboarding is a popular sport among children and young adults, and requires specialist footwear that can withstand the demands of such a sport, which can be very damaging to footwear.
Simon Courtney looks briefly at the history of footwear for skateboarding, and at the demands of the sport. He also examines the properties that skateboarding footwear must possess to be able to withstand the high levels of abrasion they experience during use.
