Chemical compliance for furniture seminar

This seminar will be beneficial to manufacturers, distributors and retailers of furniture and furnishings within the UK and EU. It will highlight key pieces of legislation that apply to the furniture industry, with a particular focus on the REACH and POPs Regulations. There will be a discussion of how to develop effective compliance strategies, including the use of restricted substances lists and due diligence testing programs to ensure ongoing conformity. The event will conclude with a practical exercise which will enable to delegates to apply what they have learned to real world scenarios.

This one-day seminar will be held at SATRA’s headquarters in Kettering, and will be ideal for designers, buyers or technologists of all levels of experience.

Programme:

• Introduction to REACH – an overview of the background to REACH and UK REACH
• Restricted substances and Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs ) – a review of how REACH applies to consumer goods, including the restricted substances within Annex XVII which are relevant to the furniture industry and obligations if SVHCs are present in products.
• Introduction to POPs- a summary of the Persistent Organic Pollutants Regulation, highlighting restricted substances which apply to the furniture industry
• Restricted Substances Lists – a discussion of how brand specifications can be created and utilised to improve communication through the supply chain
• Due diligence- an overview of the importance of due diligence testing, including advice on how to use risk assessments to devise effective testing strategies
• Practical exercise – an opportunity to bring together the topics covered during the seminar and apply your knowledge to solve problems based upon real-life scenarios

The seminar will be held at SATRA’s Headquarters in Kettering, UK.

The member price for the event is £200. The non-member price is £275. Discounts are available for multiple bookings. A 10% discount will apply for bookings of 2-3 delegates, with this rising to 15% for bookings of 4 or more. All prices exclude any applicable VAT.
