BS 7971 Parts 6 and 7: 2003
Protective clothing and equipment for use in violent situations and in training

There are no harmonised European standards for public order clothing and equipment. Therefore, SATRA uses the BS 7971 series of standards as the minimum required to satisfy the European PPE Directive when requested to carry out EC type examination of these types of product.

This is for public order protective gloves (covering mechanical, physical and flammability hazards) and specifically for slash-resistant gloves. Both standards draw from the European standards for protective industrial gloves for properties such as resistance to cutting, abrasion, tear, puncture and burning. The public order glove standard also includes impact tests similar to those used in the European motorcycle glove standard.
