Test Method: SATRA TM143
Breaking force and extension at break of whole shoe top-lines
February 1995 (2018)
SCOPE
This method is intended to determine the breaking force and extension at break of whole shoe top-lines. The method is mainly applicable to bagged top-lines and cannot be used with top-lines which are broken by a lacing gap or elastic gusset insert.
PRINCIPLE
The top-line is cut from a test shoe and placed around two cylindrical bollards fitted to the jaws of a tensile testing machine. The top-line is extended until it breaks or other failure occurs, the maximum force and extension at break are measured.
