Test Method: SATRA TM150
Attachment strength of eyelets
February 1999
SCOPE
This method is intended to determine the strength of attachment of an eyelet to its base material. It is applicable to all types of eyelets attached to any material.
PRINCIPLE
A piece of footwear facing or other material including the eyelet is clamped in a tensile testing machine and a long, thin conical plunger is inserted into the eyelet from the reverse side of the material. An increasing force is applied until the plunger detaches the eyelet from the base material. The maximum force is recorded as a measure of the strength of attachment of the eyelet.
