Test Method: SATRA TM195
Knot slippage test
January 2004
SCOPE
This method is intended to determine the resistance to slipping of a tied cord or lace. It is mainly applicable to shoe laces.
PRINCIPLE
A slip knot is tied in the test specimen and tightened using a specified force. The free ends of the test specimen are clamped in a tensile testing machine. The maximum force required to undo the knot is recorded as the slip resistance of the test specimen.
