Test Method: SATRA TM200
Resistance to mud staining - shoe care products
January 2020
SCOPE
This method is intended to determine the effect of a shoe care product, such as a polish or spray protector, on the resistance of a material to staining by mud. The method is applicable to any shoe care product intended to provide resistance to mud staining.
PRINCIPLE
A standard mud solution is prepared by mixing a specified soil with water. A drop of mud is placed on two untreated test specimens and on two test specimens which have been treated with the shoe care product. The mud is removed from one of each pair of test specimens after 30 minutes and from the other test specimens after storage overnight. Any physical effects are observed before and after removing residual mud by brushing or wiping.
