Test Method: SATRA TM209
Dimensional stability to washing
May 2002
SCOPE
This test method is intended to determine the dimensional stability of fabrics, fabric assemblies and garments to washing in water in a laboratory wash test machine. The method is applicable to all fabrics and to fabric samples cut from garments.
PRINCIPLE
A conditioned test specimen is measured then washed, together with a ballast load of fabrics, in a washing machine, under controlled conditions at a specified temperature in detergent treated water. The test specimen is dried, reconditioned, remeasured, and changes in its dimensions are calculated. The test specimen is then finished using an appropriate finishing treatment, reconditioned, remeasured, and changes in its dimensions again calculated.
