Test Method: SATRA TM210
Dimensional stability to dry cleaning
July 2002
SCOPE
This test method is intended to determine the effects on the dimensional stability of fabrics, fabric assemblies and garments of dry-cleaning in the solvent perchloroethylene in a commercial dry-cleaning machine. The method is applicable to all fabrics and to fabric samples cut from garments.
PRINCIPLE
A conditioned test specimen is measured then dry-cleaned, together with a ballast load of fabrics, in a dry-cleaning machine in perchloroethylene solvent that is charged with a detergent and if required, a quantity of water. The test specimen is dried under controlled conditions, reconditioned, remeasured, and changes in its dimensions are calculated. The test specimen is then finished using an appropriate finishing treatment, reconditioned, remeasured, and changes in its dimensions are again calculated.
