Shrinkage temperature of leather

SCOPE
This method is intended to measure the shrinkage temperature of leather when heated in water. It is applicable to all leather tannages.
PRINCIPLE
A strip of leather is slowly heated in water until a sudden shrinkage occurs. The temperature at which this shrinkage occurs is characteristic of the tannage of the leather.
