Assessment of fibre shedding or pile loss

SCOPE
This test method is intended to determine the amount of fibre shedding from a pile or brushed fabric. The method is applicable to all pile or brushed fabrics.
PRINCIPLE
Adhesive tape is placed, adhesive side down, on the surface of a test fabric and a defined pressure is applied for a specified time. The tape is then pulled from the fabric at a specified angle and rate. The amount of fibres transferred to the tape is assessed and a fibre shedding rating is assigned.
