Test Method: SATRA TM247
Luggage handle strength - repeated lifting
December 2007
SCOPE
This test method is intended to determine the strength of luggage handles to repeated lifting. The method is applicable to all luggage (suitcases, bags, briefcases, holdalls, rucksacks etc).
PRINCIPLE
The luggage is loaded with contents of defined mass distributed as evenly as possible. For a defined number of cycles, the luggage is lifted by the handle and then returned to the support surface. Any damage that has occurred to the handle or frame is assessed visually during and after the test. The test is terminated if the handle fails completely or when the defined number of cycles has been completed.
