Test Method: SATRA TM257
Fatigue resistance of pedestal-chair clutch-assemblies
September 2009
SCOPE
This method is intended to provide an accelerated means of determining the fatigue resistance of pedestal-chair-clutch-assemblies. It is primarily for simple mechanisms; however, other types of mechanisms can be assessed for fatigue resistance. This test method is suitable for use in design and development stages when the durability of the chair mechanism may be assessed on a pass or fail basis.
PRINCIPLE
A representative sample of the mechanism to be tested is secured into the clutch assembly test machine via the cone housing and back upright clamp. A force, representing that typically applied in service, is repeatedly applied to the mechanism and the resulting damage is recorded.
