Test Method: SATRA TM277
Determination of organotins
December 2020
SCOPE
This test method is intended to determine the levels of a range of common organotin compounds in a material. The method is applicable to all types of material.
PRINCIPLE
Organotins are extracted from the test specimen using an ethanol/methanol mixture and are then converted to the corresponding tetraalkyl derivative through a reaction with sodium tetraethylborate. The derivatised organotins are identified and quantified using a gas chromatography/mass spectrometry detection technique.
