Test Method: SATRA TM278
Moisture transfer test for insoles
September 2002
SCOPE
This test method is intended to determine the extent to which moisture applied to the surface of a material is absorbed and transferred to the reverse surface. It is used specifically to imitate the wetting action of damp hose on footwear insoles during wear. The method is mainly applicable to fibreboard footwear insole materials.
PRINCIPLE
A test specimen is wetted by a rotating wet circular wool felt pad, under a constant contact force. After successive brief periods of wetting the mass of water absorbed by the test specimen is determined, together with the moisture content of the wetted area and the corresponding area on the reverse surface.
