Test Method: SATRA TM341
Oxides of nitrogen discolouration test
February 2023
SCOPE
This method is intended to determine the propensity of materials to discolour when in an atmosphere containing oxides of nitrogen (NOx). The method is applicable to all materials; however it is most applicable to white- and light-coloured materials.
PRINCIPLE
A test specimen is placed in an atmosphere containing a known concentration of NOx for a set time at a temperature of 23 ± 3°C. The specimen is then removed from contact with the NOx atmosphere and allowed to desorb before comparing to an unexposed control sample.
