Thickness of non-leather flexible sheet materials

SCOPE
This method is intended to determine the thickness of a material. The method is mainly applicable to non-leather footwear upper and lining materials but can be used with any type of flexible sheet material.
PRINCIPLE
A predefined pressure is applied to a portion of a test specimen and after a set time the thickness is measured. The procedure is repeated at a range of positions until at least six measurements have been made and the arithmetic mean thickness value is calculated.
