Test Method: SATRA TM410
Adhesion strength of a coating to its base
April 1995
SCOPE
This method is intended to determine the strength of adhesion between a coating and its base. The method is applicable to all types of textile material with a discrete coating, but especially polyurethane coated fabrics used in footwear uppers.
PRINCIPLE
The coated surface of a test specimen is bonded to a piece of resin rubber using a strong adhesive. The force required to peel the test specimen from the resin rubber leaving the coating attached to the rubber is measured using a tensile testing machine. The test can also be carried out on wet and hydrolysed specimens.
