Test Method: SATRA TM417
Cleavage test for heel lift lamination strength
April 1997
SCOPE
The method is intended to assess the likelihood of breakdown between layers of an adhesive laminated board heel by measuring the bond strength between any two of the heel lifts. The method is only applicable to laminated compressed wood fibreboard heels.
PRINCIPLE
A slot is sawn into the bond line between two laminated heel lifts. A hardened steel probe mounted in a torque wrench is inserted into the slot and a gradually increasing force is applied until the heel lifts separate. The force required to cause the separation is measured.
