Test Method: SATRA TM419
Spotting tack of adhesive bonds
May 1995
SCOPE
This method is intended to assess the spotting tack at bonding of a dry adhesive film, usually after heat reactivation. The method is applicable to all types of heat reactivated or cold bonding adhesives used for footwear sole bonds. It can also be used to assess the influences of soling and upper materials on the spotting tack of an adhesive.
PRINCIPLE
Pieces of footwear soling and upper materials are coated with an adhesive. The piece of upper material is attached to the convex surface of a mandrel so that the adhesive film is outermost. The adhesive film on the piece of soling material is heat reactivated if necessary, lightly pressed against the upper material with finger pressure and immediately released. Any separation of the bond is noted as a measure of the spotting tack.
