Test Method: SATRA TM420
Resistance to heat of pressure sensitive adhesive bonds - constant shearing force method
July 1994
SCOPE
This method is intended to determine the resistance of a pressure sensitive adhesive bond, stored at an elevated temperature, to shearing by a constant force. The method is applicable to all types of pressure sensitive bonded joints and in particular to those between footwear socking and insole materials.
PRINCIPLE
A rectangular test specimen is bonded to a semi-rigid material to produce a lap joint. The test assembly is suspended in a heated cabinet and a constant shearing force is applied between the two adherends. The time for the bond to fail is measured.
