Test Method: SATRA TM102
Measurement of the limit of useful extension of elastics
March 2018
SCOPE
This method is intended to determine the limit of useful extension of elastics, a measure of how much an elastic material can be stretched while still retaining its elastic properties. It is applicable to all types of elasticated fabrics.
PRINCIPLE
A test specimen of elastic material is reinforced by sewing a piece of polyurethane coated fabric to each end. The assembly is then subjected to an increasing tensile force while the extension of the test specimen is recorded. The limit of useful extension is determined from the force extension graph.
