Test Method: SATRA TM104
Fatigue resistance of whole shoe backparts
June 2010
SCOPE
This method is intended to determine the resistance of a footwear backpart to repeated flexing. The method is applicable to footwear with shanked-fibreboard or plastic insoles.
PRINCIPLE
The test shoe is clamped at the heel and forepart and the backpart is repeatedly flexed for a set number of cycles by:
Method 1 – Clumpy heels with top piece length greater than 30 mm, or slender heels with height less than 50 mm – Holding the heel stationary and applying cyclic forces to the forepart in a direction parallel to the axis of the heel.
Method 2 – Slender heels with height 50 mm and above – Holding the forepart stationary and applying cyclic forces to the heel in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the heel.
