December 1994
SCOPE
This method is intended to determine the breaking force, breaking extension and tightness of tapes and bindings. The method is applicable to all types of tapes and bindings used in the construction of footwear and garments.
PRINCIPLE
A test specimen is extended until it breaks using a tensile testing machine. The breaking strength, extension at break and tightness are determined from the force versus extension graph. The tape may be tested as supplied and after stitching.
