Test Method: SATRA TM111
Tendency to wrinkle of polyurethane coated fabrics
July 2000
SCOPE
This test method is intended to determine the tendency of a polyurethane coated fabric to form wrinkles when extended. The method is applicable to all polyurethane coated fabrics with a coating applied to either a raised pile or a coagulated polyurethane layer on a woven base fabric.
PRINCIPLE
Test specimens cut from the bias directions of a polyurethane coated fabric, see section 8.1, are extended in a tensile testing machine and the extension at which wrinkles start to form is noted. The test specimen is further extended to a defined extension then removed from the tensile testing machine and laid flat. The remaining wrinkles are assessed by subjective comparison with a standard break/pipiness scale.
