Test Method: SATRA TM115
Torsional strength of top piece attachment
August 2000
SCOPE
This test method is intended to measure the resistance to twisting of small top pieces in women’s plastic shoe heels. The method is applicable to all small top pieces moulded onto a single splined metal spigot.
PRINCIPLE
The test specimen heel is clamped upside down in a vice and a socket of the appropriate size, held in a torque wrench, is inserted over its top piece. The force applied to the torque wrench is gradually increased until the top piece turns. The torque required to cause turning of the top piece is determined.
